On Saturday 6thApril, St George’s played host to a Heritage Open Day to celebrate the completion of the roof works. Over 180 people, of different ages, joined us with many having never been to the St George’s before and others not for a number of decades.
Visitors were given a rich experience with newly recruited tour guides ready to share information and stories about the history of the church and the renovation work. Visitors also had the opportunity to interact with the vivid display materials and e-publication and witness an entertaining retelling of the church’s history by Bob Harrington (Reader Emeritus and Chair of the History Group).
For younger members there was a chance to design their own church out of Lego as well as design their own stained-glass window, whilst for the brave there was the chance to escalate the winding staircase onto the tower to take in the spectacular views from the highest point in Liverpool. St George’s loves to open its doors to visitors- so watch out for news of the next Open Day.
